chatgpt vs deepseek the comparison
Introduction
Hello humans, how are you guys doing. Well, in the world of AI there has been a wildcard entry of a new model, which is better or nearly same as the o1 model of chatGPT, and it is already making chaos in the market, as well as in the industries. In this article we will be comparing these two models, and since I have used both of the models, will be providing a personal opinion on this in the conclusion. So, without wasting much time let’s us start.
We will compare chatGPT and DeepSeek on these of following basis;
- Privacy Policy:
- User Experience:
- Cost required for the common people:
However, before hoping on that let us know a small history on DeepSeek.
DeepSeek
DeepSeek is the name of the LLM model that is currently open-source and is developed by the Chinese Artificial Intelligence company named Hangzhou DeepSeek Artificial Intelligence Co., Ltd. It was established in the year 2023, and its co-founder is Liang Wenfeng who is serving as the CEO of the company. The company’s headquarter is in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China.
DeepSeek had launched two of its best LLM model namely, V2 and V3 which were near to the model chatGPT-4o. However, in Jan 2025 they launched their new model, R1, which is giving a tough competition to chatGPT-o1 model as it is better than chatGPT-o1 or similar to chatGPT-o1.

:Similar to chatGPT
It has very simple UI, with some of the additional features, such as attachments, web search, other gpt tools and in some cases, the voice command feature, and below the prompt there are suggestions which can be used.
ChatGPT also has a place called canvas where it made for showing the code, or writing down any markdown texts. However, with the free version we can use 4o model to some extent, and once its period is over, the model is automatically set to 3.5 model.
As you can see I was trying to upload a image file with no text it, thus it won’t let us upload the files which doesn’t have a single text.
2nd difference can be that it don’t let us build our own AI agents like GPT is providing. Thus we have to use the default V3 model or R1 model.
3rd difference can be that it doesn’t have any voice command feature. That is it don’t have that functionality where we can talk with the AI and it will reply with a voice. This deepseek is purely text to text.
Conclusion
The chatGPT is giving limited 4o model and free usage of 3.5 model where as DeepSeek is giving free usage of R1 model which is equivalent to GPT’s o1 model. Hence, almost all the users will switch to DeepSeek-r1.
With a focus on data, testing, and multi-channel strategies, agencies like ITD GrowthLabs are equipped to help businesses achieve their goals. The key is finding the right partner who understands your brand’s unique challenges and can offer solutions tailored for success.
If some people consider the privacy policies of the deepseek, then it is similar to openAi, there isn’t much big difference. The only difference that I have noticed that deepseek is capturing the keyboard strokes and the pattern of typing, other than that openAI was also taking user’s data such as their device info, browser info, IP address and all.
Thus, a general person who has access to the internet can access unlimited chatGPT-o1 model in free via deepseek-r1 model.
