About the role

What you’ll do, with whom, and why it matters

We are looking for a Quantum Computing Engineer to design, develop, and evaluate quantum and quantum-inspired solutions for complex financial services problems. This role focuses on practical, near-term applications using Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) devices and hybrid quantum–classical approaches. You will work closely with quantitative researchers, engineers, and domain experts to explore applications across portfolio optimisation, risk modeling, pricing, and large-scale optimisation problems, while maintaining strong engineering rigor. This role is ideal for someone who can balance quantum theory, classical computation, and real business impact.

Responsibilities

What you will do day-to-day

  • Design quantum + quantum-inspired algorithms for portfolio optimisation, risk modeling, derivatives pricing, and other large-scale optimisation problems in financial services
  • Implement and benchmark hybrid quantum–classical approaches (QAOA, VQE, quantum annealing, tensor networks) against state-of-the-art classical baselines
  • Run experiments on NISQ devices (IBM Quantum, IonQ, Rigetti, AWS Braket) and simulators
  • Develop and maintain quantum software in Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane, or related SDKs
  • Partner with quantitative researchers, classical-ML engineers and financial-services domain experts to translate business problems into quantum-amenable formulations
  • Write high-quality, production-grade code — not just research scripts — with tests, CI, and reproducibility built in
  • Communicate results clearly to non-quantum stakeholders; write internal whitepapers + technical deep-dives
  • Stay current with the rapidly-evolving quantum hardware + software ecosystem
What we’re looking for

Skills, experience and mindset

  • 2–4 years of hands-on experience with quantum algorithms, simulators or NISQ devices
  • Strong Python + at least one of: Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane, Strawberry Fields, Q#
  • Solid CS + math fundamentals — linear algebra, complexity theory, optimisation theory, probability
  • Familiarity with NISQ algorithms — QAOA, VQE, Quantum Phase Estimation, Quantum Amplitude Estimation
  • Experience with classical optimisation + ML approaches (so you can credibly compare quantum to classical)
  • Familiarity with financial services use cases (portfolio theory, risk metrics, options pricing) is a strong plus
  • Engineering discipline — Git, CI/CD, testing, code review — not just research notebooks
  • Comfort with research-to-production translation — you can ship working systems, not just papers
Perks & benefits

What we offer

  • Remote-first — work from anywhere in compatible time zones
  • Mentorship + collaboration with senior researchers + engineers
  • Quantum cloud access (IBM Quantum, AWS Braket) and compute paid for by the company
  • Annual conference + publication budget (Q2B, IEEE Quantum Week, papers in quantum journals)
  • Flexible hours, async-first work culture
  • Health insurance + paid leave
  • Competitive compensation aligned with global quantum talent market
  • Real business impact — you’ll ship to production, not just experiment
